Is
dinner included?
Murder Afloat is not a dinner cruise. Refreshments are available
at the cash bar.
How
does the audience participate?
Professional actors are on board to act out the crime. The audience
is invited to help solve it. Before boarding the boat, passengers
are given name badges, paper, and pencils to take notes. Asking
the actors questions and comparing notes with others is encouraged.
Is
this like a play?
Almost. The actors become evident at beginning of the cruise. Scenes
are performed at various locations on the boat, so it is not a show
you sit and watch. Passengers are encouraged to move around and
ask questions.
Is
Murder Afloat suitable for Children?
(The wording used in this answer should give you a good idea of whether or not you will be offended.)
Hell, if this were a movie it would probably just miss a "G" rating and be rated "PG" (probably NOT even "PG-13") There is no
harsh adult language in the script, other than the sparingly used "hell" or "damn," but it is a MURDER mystery, so it's hard to avoid that damned murder! (People who say "darn" and "heck" seldom get motivated enough to commit murders.)
The murder itself is not graphic (we don't show the actual act, otherwise it wouldn't be a mystery!) though sometimes there is a bloody wound.
The show is as appropriate as any murder mystery film or novel would be. If you don't think your child should be trying to figure out why one person would kill another, however fun and humorous the setting, you may want to get a sitter.
How
long is the show?
About an hour and a half.
What
do we get if we solve the crime?
A winner will be drawn from the correct solutions and a prize is
given to the sleuth who guesses the murderer, the motive, and the
method.
